Aftercare
Every body is different. No one person responds to being tattooed or heals a tattoo the exact same.
This is what I recommend, but you know your skin better than I do.
If a waterproof bandage is used:
Keep bandage on for 3-5 days
Remove the bandage if any irritation occurs, even if that is the same day
It is normal to having oozing and liquid trapped under the bandage. It is part of the healing process.
It is normal to see ink on the bandage when removing it. It is not pulling the ink out of the tattoo.
The bandage comes off easiest under warm water. Remove slowly and carefully.
Gently clean tattoo with mild soap and water. Do not scrub the tattoo or use harsh soaps.
Pat dry with a paper towel
Assess the tattoo. If it looks a little flaky or feels tender, apply the A&D ointment until it looks almost smooth and feels less tender to the touch.
If the tattoo looks mostly smooth and almost healed, apply the lotion until it is fully healed.
Use thin layers of the ointment and lotion. Just enough to absorb into the skin and keep it hydrated.
Avoid letting scabs form. Moisturize if you notice scabbing.
Remember to use sunscreen every day for the life of the tattoo.
PLEASE AVOID UNTIL FULLY HEALED:
Pools, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, oceans, saunas, excessive sweating, sun exposure, chemicals, perfumes, do not pick at any scabs, do not scratch the tattoo.
Remember that this is essentially an open wound and prone to infection. The better you care for it, the better it will heal.
